Full Programme Details
The Rautio Piano Trio present a special New Year two-part series at Kino Teatr with the launch of their programme ‘The Dawn of the Piano Trio: Beethoven’s Building Blocks’.
These concerts will chart the evolution of the piano trio, from its emergence in the mid-18th century through to Beethoven’s complex and mature realisation of the genre. The programmes will feature rarely performed works by JC ‘London’ Bach, CPE Bach and Clementi, alongside the better known trios by Mozart, Haydn and Beethoven, all performed on historical instruments. The Rautio Trio will illuminate Beethoven’s trios in the context of works by other composers, preceding and contemporaneous, exploring how his ground-breaking writing would have been perceived at the time.
Alongside the performance will be an ‘Artists in conversation’ event, during which the musicians will talk about our approach to the music on historical instruments and answer questions from the audience.
This project is kindly supported by a grant from the Continuo Foundation and GEMMA Classical Music Trust.
